Athlete first
Every operational choice should help athletes safely discover how far they can go.
Why The Last Mile exists
02 · The vision
The Last Mile is intended to become a flagship Canadian Rockies endurance property—built patiently, responsibly and with the ambition to matter well beyond its inaugural edition.
The institution we intend to build
The Canadian Rockies provide extraordinary scale, but they also demand restraint. The event must be shaped with the selected venue, land managers, local communities and operational partners—not imposed on them.
Every operational choice should help athletes safely discover how far they can go.
Basecamp, accreditation and event services should recognize the crew as part of every athlete’s performance.
Land-manager requirements, environmental protection, restoration and respectful local relationships are foundational.
The event should create a powerful association with place while respecting the priorities, capacity and identity of the host property and community.
The goal is not one impressive inaugural edition. It is a respected Canadian endurance institution with international relevance.
Why a host might care
A format with a clear identity, a repeatable annual rhythm and a finish that cannot be scheduled in advance.
The landscape is not a backdrop. Changing light, weather and overnight conditions become part of the event narrative.
Athlete stories and event content are intended to extend the experience beyond race weekend without making unsupported audience promises.
The concept must be adapted through venue, community and permitting conversations before course or capacity decisions are finalized.
